With a career spanning Oman’s core industries including Oil & Gas, Government, and Aviation, Sameer’s technical expertise and strategic vision have played a crucial role in elevating the nation’s digital ecosystem in alignment with Oman Vision 2040.

Leading IT Infrastructure and Operations with Excellence

Currently, Sameer serves as the Head of Infrastructure Operations at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), where he oversees critical IT infrastructure management, including data centers and network operations. His leadership ensures seamless IT service delivery supporting PDO’s operations, safeguarding business continuity and optimizing infrastructure performance.

Previously, he held key roles including Corporate & External Services Lead and Field Development Projects Support Lead at PDO, and Manager of IT Facilities and Operations at Oman Air. In these positions, Sameer successfully managed data centers, disaster recovery sites, and large-scale infrastructure projects, while delivering vital upgrades to Oman Air’s IT capabilities in support of its fleet expansion.

A Proven Track Record in Data Center Management and Strategic IT Projects

Sameer has a strong background in designing, building, and managing state-of-the-art data centers. His expertise includes establishing robust backup and recovery processes, enforcing SLAs and KPIs, and continuously improving IT policies and procedures. He played a pivotal role in national projects at the Information Technology Authority (ITA), managing critical infrastructure for Oman’s National Data Center and disaster recovery facilities.

Known for his hands-on approach, Sameer coordinates multidisciplinary teams, drives change management, and mentors staff — fostering a collaborative environment that continuously raises IT operational standards.

Sameer holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hull and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics (Communications) from The University of Sheffield. His academic credentials underpin his in-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, communications, and business management.
