Essam Al Sheibany has built a career at the intersection of energy, operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and sustainability. His leadership spans decades of experience in Oman’s energy and industrial sectors, complemented by a strong focus on ESG, decarbonization, renewable energy, and climate-related initiatives.

Since December 2021, he has served as Group Vice President of QHSSE & Sustainability at ASYAD Group, where his responsibilities include ESG, decarbonization, and corporate social responsibility.

His work supports ASYAD Group’s ambition to strengthen its position as a global integrated logistics organization while embedding environmental stewardship and green innovation into its operations.

Championing ESG and Decarbonization

At ASYAD Group, Essam leads initiatives focused on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), decarbonization, and corporate social responsibility.

His professional interests also extend to renewable energy, e-fuels, hydrogen production, green mobility, and sustainable business practices, reflecting the evolving priorities of the energy and logistics sectors.

His sustainability approach combines technical expertise with change leadership, helping connect environmental objectives with operational performance.

From Energy Operations to Sustainability Leadership

Essam’s career began in operations at OQ, where he spent more than a decade progressing through various operational roles before moving into increasingly senior engineering and management positions.

He later served as General Manager Operations at Mina Al Fahal Refinery, overseeing refinery operations after earlier roles in process engineering, depot management, and quality assurance.

This operational foundation has shaped his approach to sustainability—connecting environmental goals with safety, reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.

QHSSE at the Core

Prior to his current sustainability leadership role, Essam served as Group VP QHSSE at ASYAD Group, strengthening his experience across quality, health, safety, security, and environmental management.

His earlier assignment as Operations Advisor at Duqm Refinery in an EPC role in Madrid further expanded his exposure to refinery design, operational readiness, HAZOP, SIL, RAM, RCM, RBI, maintainability, operability, and international engineering standards.

Supporting Oman’s Green Future

Essam’s leadership reflects the growing importance of sustainability within Oman’s energy, logistics, and industrial landscape. His professional focus on ESG, renewable energy, hydrogen, green mobility, climate change, and decarbonization aligns sustainability ambitions with practical operational expertise.

Alongside his corporate leadership, he serves as a Board Member of the Environment Society of Oman and Mwasalat Oman, extending his contribution to environmental and transport-related sectors.
