In a bold move to accelerate economic diversification and stimulate private sector growth, the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has launched the Future Fund Oman—a strategic initiative with a capital of OMR 2 billion (approximately USD 5.2 billion) to be deployed over five years .

Strategic Allocation for Sustainable Growth

The fund is designed to invest 90% of its capital in commercially viable projects across eight key sectors: tourism, industry and manufacturing, green energy, information and communication technology, ports and logistics, mining, fisheries, and agriculture . The remaining 10% is earmarked for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, with 7% allocated to SMEs and 3% to startups .

Empowering the Private Sector and Attracting Investment

Future Fund Oman aims to serve as a catalyst for private sector participation and foreign direct investment (FDI). By offering flexible financing options—including direct funding and capital partnerships—the fund seeks to attract both local and international investors looking to contribute to Oman’s economic development .

The fund is managed by the OIA and adheres to international best practices in governance and transparency. An investment committee comprising members from the OIA, Ministry of Finance, and independent bodies oversees investment decisions, ensuring alignment with national economic objectives .
