Abdullah Alajmi is an experienced energy-sector executive with nearly four decades of expertise in refinery operations, technical services, commissioning, operations support, and FEED. As CEO of OQ8, he brings extensive operational knowledge and engineering leadership to one of Oman’s significant energy projects.

Leading OQ8

Since June 2025, Abdullah Alajmi has served as Chief Executive Officer of OQ8, while also holding the position of Chief Operating Officer, which he assumed in July 2023. His leadership encompasses operational performance and the effective management of refinery activities at OQ8.

His extensive technical background provides a strong foundation for leading complex energy operations, combining engineering expertise with practical knowledge of refinery systems and operational planning.

Nearly Four Decades in Refining

Before joining OQ8, Alajmi built an exceptionally long career with KNPC, beginning in 1988. Over the years, he held increasingly senior responsibilities, including Manager of Technical Services at Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery and leadership in operations support.

His responsibilities have included refinery processing, gas processing, operations planning, and laboratory services—areas that have shaped his comprehensive understanding of refining operations and technical management.

Engineering Expertise and Leadership

Alajmi holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Kuwait University, complementing his extensive hands-on industry experience. His career reflects a combination of technical expertise, operational discipline, and leadership across complex refinery environments.

As CEO of OQ8, he continues to apply this experience toward strengthening operational performance and supporting the company’s development within Oman’s energy sector.
