Muneer Al Balushi is an experienced banking executive with more than two decades of experience across retail banking, direct sales, collections, recovery, and financial services in Oman. He currently serves as Deputy General Manager – Retail Banking at ahlibank, a role he assumed in January 2026.
Alongside his current position, his experience at ahlibank includes leadership responsibilities across distribution and sales, acting distribution, and retail collections, giving him broad exposure to the operational and commercial dimensions of retail banking.
Since joining ahlibank, Al Balushi has held several senior positions, including Assistant General Manager – Head of Distribution & Sales, Retail Banking and Head of Acting Distribution – Retail Banking.
Earlier, as Head of Direct Sales, he established and led a direct sales operation of 42 staff, including team leaders, branch sales staff, and coordinators. His responsibilities included developing sales strategies, managing lending-product performance, and supporting growth across mortgages, personal loans, credit cards, CASA, and liability products.
Al Balushi has extensive experience in retail collections and recovery. As Head of Retail Collections, he has focused on managing delinquent portfolios, improving collection efficiency, reducing delinquency, and strengthening processes for account stabilization.
His responsibilities have included managing collection teams, analyzing management information and portfolio trends, coordinating restructuring cases, addressing customer issues, and developing collection policies and processes.
Previously, he served as Head of Remedial, Collections and Recovery – Retail, SME and Corporate Banking, further expanding his experience across different banking segments.
Before joining ahlibank, Al Balushi spent five years at Standard Chartered Bank Oman, progressing from Direct Sales Representative to Team Leader, Senior Team Leader, and eventually Head of Collections.
During this period, he managed more than 50 sales staff, including five team leaders and a telesales unit. His responsibilities also included credit policy development, portfolio analysis, recruitment and training, CBO reporting, and operational activities covering savings, current accounts, credit cards, personal loans, and call-center operations.
Al Balushi holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Bedfordshire in the UK, completed during 2012–2015.
His career reflects a combination of commercial banking expertise, people leadership, customer service, collections management, and retail banking operations.
