He supports top management in strategic planning, oversees the technical aspects of all departments, implements preventive medicine and biosecurity protocols, and ensures the quality, safety, and traceability of meat products from farm to consumer. His expertise is also crucial in livestock selection, maintaining their health, and compliance with Omani and international standards.

Shahab’s public sector journey includes serving as Head of Preventive & Therapeutic Veterinary Services at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Water Resources, where he participated in the development of comprehensive veterinary care plans to safeguard Oman’s national animal wealth. He played a central role in implementing national disease control programs, managing veterinary supply tenders, and acting as Oman’s focal point in some of the international organizations such as the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), the Gulf Health Council, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the FAO. His work has been instrumental in strengthening biosecurity, pandemic preparedness, and veterinary regulation across the GCC.

His scientific rigor and dedication have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Al Marai Award for Distinguished Veterinarian among GCC countries (2023) and Almarai Award for the outstanding veterinary student (2016), to be the first veterinarian that earn two Al Marai Awards and he achieved multiple recognitions from the local and international entities.
