Muscat, Oman — On 14 November 2025, the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) Oman Overseas Chapter lit up Crowne Plaza Qurum with an evening full of hope, inspiration, and heartfelt farewells. The event marked not just the inauguration of the new Executive Committee, but also a tribute to those whose dedication shaped the chapter’s journey.

A Powerful Gathering of Engineers and Leaders

The party brought together a broad spectrum of the engineering fraternity: from seasoned professionals in construction, industrial design, and infrastructure, to senior academic figures from Sultan Qaboos University and the Military Technical College Muscat, as well as CIP (Civil Infrastructure Project) engineers. The presence of distinguished members from the Bangladeshi community added warmth and depth to the celebration.

Honoring Diplomacy & Local Collaboration

At the heart of the evening was the Chief Guest, Mr. Asadul Haque, Counsellor (Labour Wing) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Oman, whose leadership and support continue to strengthen the Bangladeshi professional network in this Gulf nation. Also present was Eng. Fuad Abdullah Al-Kindi, Chairman of the Oman Society of Engineers (OSE), a signal of collaboration and mutual respect between Bangladeshi engineers and their Omani counterparts.

Reflecting on the Past, Embracing the Future

One of the most moving moments came when Engr. Rezaul Islam, Chairman of IEB, addressed the audience via a video message straight from Dhaka. His words were a heartfelt recognition of the chapter’s achievements and a powerful reminder of the bond between engineers back home in Bangladesh and those building their careers abroad.

The newly elected Executive Committee was formally inaugurated:

  • Chairman: Eng. Aminur Islam
  • Vice Chairman: Eng. Sharif Khan
  • Honorary Secretary: Eng. Jubair Ali
along with three Council Members and ten Executive Members. Meanwhile, past leaders were honored in a warm farewell, an emotional nod to their service and commitment.

Stories & Vision

A spotlight presentation by Eng. Sharif Khan (Vice Chairman) traced the history of IEB, its central mission, and the growth of the Oman Chapter. Eng. Nurujjaman Hossain (Council Member) then shared moving anecdotes, showing how Bangladeshi engineers in Oman are not just contributing to major infrastructure projects, but helping realize Oman’s Vision 2040 through design, innovation, and construction.

The evening’s organization, courtesy of the outgoing and incoming committees, was praised for its seamless flow, meaningful speeches, and genuine community spirit.

Why This Matters

  • For Bangladeshi Engineers: This event underscores how expatriate engineers can stay deeply connected with their professional home, even while working abroad.
  • For the Omani Engineering Ecosystem: It highlights collaboration, knowledge exchange, and a shared commitment to development.
  • For the Bangladeshi Diaspora: It builds pride and solidarity, a clear message that their work is recognized, valued, and part of something bigger.

Looking Ahead

With a refreshed leadership team and a renewed energy, the IEB Oman Overseas Chapter is poised to expand its impact, organizing technical seminars, mentoring young engineers, and strengthening ties with institutions in both Oman and Bangladesh.

As the new committee takes the stage, they carry forward a legacy of professionalism, service, and community drive while inviting everyone to play a role in the next chapter.
